Hypnotherapy practice dates back decades and can be a very helpful addition to the behavioral health therapist's clinical "toolbox". Hypnotic work can provide a powerful context for reducing anxiety, healing the aftereffects of traumatic stress and promoting general wellness. Participants will learn about the history of clinical hypnotherapy with an emphasis on pioneering work of Dr. Milton Erickson.

This two-day workshop will accommodate diverse learning styles through presentations, demonstrations and opportunities for practice. Participants will learn how to assess hypnotizability (client selection) and how to educate clients about hypnotic work (consent). You will learn about the features of hypnotic states and how to invite clients into a therapeutic trance. Learn to design and deliver effective hypnotically-mediated interventions. We will explore specific techniques for addressing trauma in alignment with evidence-based approaches to healing posttraumatic stress. Finally, we will review strategies for self-hypnosis and pain management.

This workshop will be from 9:00am-4:00pm each day.

Speaker: Dr. Richard E. Ruhrold, Ph.D., HSPP

This training qualifies for 12 CEUs in the Behavioral Health and Human Services (BHHS) field.
