Virtual Brown Bag Lunch: Grab your lunch and join us on Zoom with presenter Kurt Garner, July 10th at noon. Kurt’s talk, “The Village of Maxinkuckee: Uncovering & Celebrating its History”, traces the history all the way back to the Native American tribe that called the village home as well as explores the unique natural and man-made landscape of the area. Do not miss the opportunity to discover more of Marshall County’s unique history!

To register for this event, email sarahwhisman@mchistoricalsociety.org and the Zoom meeting details will be sent to you along with a helpful user guide. For those hesitant about using Zoom, please note that all you need is an email address and an internet connection. Feel free to call us at (574)936-2306 with questions about this or any of our other programs.

Kid’s Event: A “History Detective” activity packet will be available on our website starting July 1st. This activity has kiddos imagine that they are a detective specializing in historical mysteries, this particular case involves mysterious artifacts found in a ‘virtual’ old trunk from the attic of a ‘virtual’ old house. Kids will have to figure out what the artifacts are using visually based evidence, problem solving skills and their imaginations.  This hands-on activity is great to do with kids or grandkids!

To access, visit our website (on or after July 1st), www.mchistoricalsociety.org and scroll to the bottom of the home page. There, you will see a link to download and print this activity at home.
