Tuesday, APRIL 24
Education / Arts & Humanities
Author Ken Thomasma
The author of The Truth About Sacajawea - the Shoshoni woman that history has shown to be vital to the success of the 1805 Lewis and Clark expedition. Ken Thomasma's historical book was instrumental in garnering support to put Sacajawea and her son, Jean Baptiste, on the new gold dollar coin. Mr. Thomasma will be spending this day in our Plymouth schools and will take his lunch break with us.
Mr. Thomasma's schedule, meeting with Plymouth's fourth graders doing dramatic storytelling and writing workshops at Webster, Jefferson, Washinton and Menominee Elementary Schools, is quite structured. His lunch hour is set in connection with this schedule. To accommodate Mr. Thomasma's scheduled lunch break, the Chamber's HIGH NOON LUNCH is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. Ken will be addressing this "noon" gathering on "Sacajawea, A Child Undaunted by Adversity."
