Nominees Sought for Chamber Awards
The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominees for their annual awards program honoring citizens who have made, by their selfless service, contributions for the betterment of our area communities.
The top award will be for Distinguished Citizen. The Chamber will also give awards for Volunteer, Youth Service and Public Servant.
Distinguished Citizen - awarded to a person who has made positive contributions to the quality of life in the Plymouth area.
Volunteer - awarded to a person who contributes volunteer talents and time to worthwhile organizations.
Youth Service - awarded to a person who demonstrates exemplary service to the youth of the community.
Public Servant - awarded to the person who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the public sector.
These honors may be given to people who qualify through lifetime achievement or extraordinary contributions in the past year.
A five-person committee, separate from the Chamber, will select the Distinguished Citizen based on the nominations turned into the committee. The Distinguished Citizen award will also mean $500.00 from the Chamber to be donated in their name to a charity of the recipient's choice.
Each award recipient will receive a plaque and another plaque will be located at the Chamber office with award winners' names posted.

Chuck Glaub - Distinguished Citizen
Irene Vieweg - Volunteer
Donnie Davidson - Public Servant
Leonard and Joanne Isban - Youth Service
Executive Director, Doug Anspach, explains, "There are a number of individuals who have made Plymouth a better place to live, work and raise a family over the past 30 - 40 years. I believe we need to recognize those people in an appropriate public venue."

Nomination forms also are available at the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, Grand Rental Station, Treat's Squire Shop, Sears, and The Booksworm. Completed forms need to be returned to the Chamber, 120 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, by April 18, 2002.
Awards will be announced at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. R.S.V.P. Form The Chamber is also honoring our State Championship Speech Team again this year! Our entire community is invited to attend.
