| Lt. Governor Skillman to Speak at Annual Dinner Tuesday, May 9, 2006 Christo's Banquet Center 6:00 PM
The date for the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner is Tuesday, May 9, 2006, 6:00 PM at Christo's Banquet Center. (see invitation insert) This year's event schedule is special from beginning to end!During the social hour, 6:00 to 7:00 PM, we will host two pre-events designed to both entertain and inform. The Plymouth High School Jazz Combo will provide the entertainment. The combo will highlight jazz sounds by Will Kubley on Piano, Taylor Crowell on Bass, Erik Yazel on Guitar, Anthony Glaub/Eric Beck on Drums and Eric Beck on Vibraphone. The MarketPlace of Ideas will provide the information. MarketPlace of Ideas gives chamber members the opportunity to showcase their products and/or services. The Chamber introduced this concept at a Chamber meeting last year. Many members who were able to attend then were pleasantly surprised at services offered by a particular business that for some reason or another had gone unnoticed. This format not only provides information, it also affords the opportunity to network with your fellow Chamber members. Our invited speaker is Lt. Governor Becky Skillman. On January 10, 2005, Becky Skillman was sworn in as the first woman elected to the position of Lt. Governor in the state of Indiana. Serving as the fiftieth Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, Becky Skillman is responsible for shepherding the Administration's legislative agenda through the Indiana General Assembly and serves as President of the Senate. In addition to her legislative responsibilities, Lt. Governor Skillman also oversees the Office of Tourism Development, Energy Group and Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. She chairs the Indiana Counter Terrorism and Security Council, the intergovernmental entity responsible for homeland security. She also serves as the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development under the state's, new and first ever, Department of Agriculture and Office of Rural Affairs. To complete the evening, the annual presentation of the community service awards for Distinguished Citizen, Volunteer of the Year, Youth Service and Public Servant will take place. The Chamber's annual awards program honors citizens who have made, by their selfless service, contributions for the betterment of our area communities, honors given to people who qualify through lifetime achievement or extraordinary contributions in the past year. The evening promises to be outstanding. Call the Chamber office at 574-936-2323 to make reservations or send in the enclosed invitation sheet.
