Bicycle Helmet Campaign - The fund-raising campaign for purchasing bicycle helmets for third graders in seven area school corporations has started. Mary Aguiar, M.D. of Marshall County Pediatric Physicians is heading the program that successfully raised over $2,100 to purchase 300 helmets for elementary students in Plymouth last year. This year's goal is to raise $6,559 to purchase 937 helmets for every third grader in the Plymouth (including St. Michael's and Grace Baptist), Bremen (including St. Paul's Lutheran), Argos, Triton, Culver (including St. Anne's), John Glenn and Union-North (LaVille) School Corporations.
Pearle Vision located at 2520 N. Oak Road, Pilgrim Place Mall, will feature free kindergarten vision screenings on April 24th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. On April 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on April 24th from 8:00 a.m. until noon there will be a "Trunkshow" featuring brand name frame displays with refreshments and a drawing. V.E. Stockman Coin-Operated Laundries "Forty years in hot water!" May 4th marks the 40th anniversary of the first coin laundry in Marshall County. It was in 1959 that Vic and Mary Lou Stockman opened the Uptown Laundromat at the corner of West LaPorte and Center Streets, the present location of the Fire Station. Since 1959 they have 8 other locations in Plymouth, Walkerton, Rochester and Peru. The Stockman's are now operating only the Country Charm Cleaning Center in the Plymouth Center by the Pizza Hut. This is the Country Charm's 26th year. This is the largest facility of its type in several counties with over 100 washers and dryers. They offer complete laundry and dry cleaning services, alterations, carpet cleaner rentals and UPS shipping.
