Plymouth Chamber Announces Event at the Cove
Lady of Nine Years to Throw First Pitch
Nine year old Megan E. Pintal, entering fourth grade this year at Menominee School, will have the honor of throwing the first pitch at the August 12 South Bend Silver Hawks game against the Kane County Cougars.
Tuesday, August 12 is Plymouth Day at the Cove - a fun family night program the South Bend Silver Hawks offer to communities with free entry to the game. Our community now has the vouchers which may be obtained at the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. Michigan St., or at the Plymouth Public Library, 201 N. Center St. These vouchers need to be turned in for game tickets preceding the game. To save a trip to South Bend, Silver Hawks representatives will be at the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, August 5, between the hours of 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM so that vouchers may be redeemed for game tickets. The Silver Hawks mascot, Swoop, will also be at the Chamber for photo ops with any child with parent who brings their own camera.
Reading programs are important to the Silver Hawks, (sponsoring Plymouth Community Schools reading programs), thus giving Megan the honor of the first pitch for completing the Plymouth Public Librarys Big on Books summer reading program is a natural. Megan was the first of 114 fourth and fifth graders to complete a two phase program. The first phase is to read selected books from a list, teaching participants how to find books in the Library and the second phase is to read 50 books by a goal date. Megan was the first of the fourth/fifth grade group to complete the project. All the participants receive certificates of completion and will enjoy a party at the Library given in their honor.
Megan enjoys reading, video games and collecting pandas. Megan is an A student in school. Megans Mom and Dad are Dina and Walter and her sister and brother are Melissa and Matt. The Pintal family lives in Plymouth.
Mark you calendar for Plymouth Day at the Cove, Tuesday, August 12, 2003, Coveleski Stadium, 501 W. South St. South Bend. The gates open at 6:00 PM and the game starts at 7:00 PM. Get your vouchers early and redeem for games tickets on Aug. 5, 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Come out and cheer on the 1st Place Silver Hawks and cheer for first pitch Megan. |
