Start & Expand Your Small Business

Dear Small Business Owner,

Please join me at the Jobs and Small Business Summit that I am hosting in South Bend on Thursday, August 21, 2003 along with Ivy Tech State College, the WorkOne Center and Job Works. In organizing the summit, I hope to assist small business owners by encouraging communication between local entrepreneurs and the many different government and private organizations that promote Indiana small business growth.

As a member of the Senate Small Business Committee, I am doing all I can to aid and encourage Hoosier entrepreneurs. Small businesses are the real engines of economic growth in Indiana. The make up 97.5% of all Indiana businesses and employ more that one million Hoosiers. This is why it is so important to encourage communication among government, local business organizations and Hoosiers who want to start or are attempting to grow a small business.

The Small Business Summit is designed to provide interested Hoosiers with practical advise and expertise on some of the unique situations facing small business owners. Several breakout sessions will be held during the summit that will focus on different issues involving small businesses, including sessions on how certain local and government organizations can help as you start or continue to grow your small business. Breakout sessions will cover topics such as how to access capital, how to created a business plan, and how to export your goods and services. I urge you to attend as many of the breakout sessions as possible.

The Jobs and Small Business Summit will be held in South Bend on Thursday, August 21, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (C.S.T.). To register to attend the Jobs and Small Business Summit, please R.S.V.P. my Regional Director, Hodge Patel, at (574) 236-8302, or email him at Hodge_Patel@Bayh.Senate.Gov. I encourage you to visit my website for more information on my work with small business issues at www.bayh.senate.gov.

Best Wishes, Evan Bayh, United States Senator www.bayh.senate.gov.
