Business Toolbox
Incentives, Resources and Financial Tools Workshop Refresh your knowledge of State and Local incentives, resources and financing programs for Indiana businesses by attending a free workshop to be held on August 22nd, 2007, from 3-5 p.m., in the 3rd floor Chamber Briefing Center, in the Commerce Building, at 401 East Colfax Avenue, South Bend. As a financial service provider, professional service provider, or an economic development officer, it is important to learn how these programs and services will enhance your customer service and differentiate you from the competition. State and Local Representatives from various agencies and organizations will discuss the services, programs, resources, financing tools and incentives that can be of benefit to your Indiana-based customers. Most businesses lack awareness of all that is available. You'll learn how to introduce your client to the relevant incentives, resources and tools. We encourage a member of your organization to attend and bring this knowledge back to be shared with all. This workshop will also be helpful for members of the general business community that are interested in learning about the programs that are available to them, either directly, or through advisors. For instance, did you know that (1) the City of Plymouth and other communities in Marshall County help both new and expanding businesses grow through a tax abatement program directed at industrial, technology, or major office-related projects, or that (2) the City of Plymouth encourages facade improvement through a revitalization initiative that rebates up to 20% of the cost of the exterior renovation to the business owner. Please plan to attend this workshop to learn about the programs that may benefit the needs of your business now and in the future. Reservations are required and can be coordinated by contacting: South Bend Small Business Development Center 574.282.4350 x0 rmackowiak@southbendbcg.com Programs to be Included: Business Development

PLYMOUTH BUSINESS CONNECTIONS CHAMBER NETWORKING COMMITTEE This past year, several of this Chamber's members asked about starting a 'business connections' group. You have heard of a 'soft opening'... where a business opens and operates for a period of time to work out the details of their operation and then 'kicks it in gear'... well, it is gear kick'n time. The Plymouth Business Connections group has been meeting for breakfast, inviting others to participate on a one to one system. These breakfasts have been posted on our online calendar and printed out for the NewsMonth each month. They have also organized a few Business After Hours. Now there is a direction, a 'plan in place' - a Mission statement. The Plymouth Business Connections' mission is to harness the community's economic power by:
All Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce members are invited to check this out. Your input and ideas will be welcomed. Invite non-Chamber members to the breakfasts and welcome them to join the Plymouth Chamber to continue the benefits of Chamber membership. Watch for the Plymouth Business Connection breakfast announcements on the Chamber's online calendar www.plymouthcalendar.com and/or contact Angie Stults at 935-4108 or by email angie.stults@edwardjones.com for more information.
