Gibson Insurance Group would like to announce that they will be joining forces with Taylor & Moyer Insurance Agency, Inc. effective September 1, 1998, according to David D. Gibson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gibson Insurance Group, and Thomas J. McGovern, President of Taylor & Moyer Agency, Inc. Both Gibson and Taylor & Moyer have offices in South Bend and Plymouth. Gibson currently employs 53 people and Taylor & Moyer has 20 employees. Under the terms of the agreement, McGovern will be a partner in Gibson Insurance Group. Offices will be consolidated at Gibson's current Parkview Atrium location at 300 South Saint Louis Boulevard in South Bend and at 333 East Jefferson Street in Plymouth, Indiana. Taylor & Moyer Agency, Inc. was founded in 1929 in South Bend, Indiana by the late John L. Taylor and Rodney H. Moyer. Gibson Insurance Group was founded in 1933 in Plymouth, Indiana by the late Dan Gibson. The combined firm will be the largest privately held insurance broker in North Central Indiana and Southwestern Michigan. Gibson and McGovern indicated that clients of both companies will benefit from access to a broader spectrum of insurance carriers, products and services. Gibson Insurance Group would like to announce that Gregory S. Downes, vice president of Gibson Insurance Group, has been named Chief Operating Officer effective July 1, 1998. In announcing the appointment, David D. Gibson, president and CEO, expressed confidence in Downes who will direct the operations of the organization in addition to his current responsibility for production and business development.
