Marshall County Hospice - Located at 112 S. Center Street, Suite C, is now planning its fourth annual WALK FOR HOSPICE. Last year 500 walkers raised over $52,000 in support of the Hospice work with the terminally ill and their families. Tom Padberg, Chaplain, expresses his great appreciation for the outstanding support of this very caring community. This year's calendar date for the WALK is October 10th. DNS Online announces it recently hired Nathan P. Loveland to be General Manager. Prior to joining DNS Online, Loveland worked for three years at the Northern Indiana Educational Services Center as the regional Distance Learning Coordinator for the Vision Athena Project. While there, he coordinated the use of Ameritech's two-way interactive video network for a consortium of 22 schools and colleges. Loveland has more than 25 years military and civilian work experience, including work as a software tester, technical trainer, systems analyst, and web developer. Ponderosa Steakhouse - Located at 2100 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth has expanded and remodeled their restaurant. With the addition of 60 seats in the new extension and the newly expanded menu, Ponderosa can now accommodate larger groups for reunions, meetings, showers, family meals and banquets.

Rachel's Home (Formerly known as Pregnancy Care Home) announces their reopening. Max and Peggy Hatfield have volunteered their services as houseparents until a part time director and houseparents are found. Max and Peggy have been involved with crisis centers for 15 years. Rachel's Home is a Christian crisis pregnancy home for single unwed girls or women, needing a place to live until they have their baby. Although the unwed mothers-to-be live at Rachel's Home without cost, they do have household duties, continue their education or job responsibilities. Each month they receive additional education in prenatal care, proper hygiene and financial planning by local nurses and social and financial advisors. Kids Peace Kids Peace National Centers is a private, not for profit, therapeutic foster care agency. Kids Peace provides safe, loving homes for school-aged children. Though Kids Peace is based in South Bend, the services they provide reach several surrounding counties, including Marshall County. Kids Peace currently has one family with a foster son living in Plymouth. Kids Peace is excited to learn more about the Plymouth community through participation in the Chamber and hopes to increase the number of foster families in Plymouth. United Way of M.C. Duane L. Miller, 1999 Campaign Chairman for the United Way of Marshall County Fund Drive, announced the appointment of Brian E. Dietz as Vice-Chairman for the campaign. Mr Dietz is the Executive Vice-President of the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center-Plymouth Campus. During his announcement, Duane noted that Brian will be a great Vice-Chairman bringing to our local United Way Campaign experience going back to 1978. For the past seven years, Mr. Dietz, his wife, Patty, and two children, Shannon and Joshua, have resided in Marshall County. Mr. Dietz graduated in 1978 from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. From 1979 to the present, Mr. Dietz has been extensively involved in the health care system coming to Marshall County from the Holy Cross Hospital of Silver Spring in Silver Spring, Maryland. Joining the St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in 1992, he was appointed Executive Vice-President of the Plymouth Campus. From 1996 to 1997 he served as the interim president and chief executive officer for the entire St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Inc.

Miller and Dietz will soon be announcing their campaign cabinet for 1999. Miller has also set the date for the 1999 Kick-Off Luncheon which will be held September 15, 1999 at the Occasions Banquet Center in LaPaz, IN.
