PDAC Community Update
From the desk of Jerry Nikitas, PDAC Chair
PDAC has made a great deal of progress in the last few weeks. Downtown Merchants celebrated the busiest Halloween in history. Well in excess of 2000 people visited Downtown Plymouth to take part in the parade, free movie, puppet show, hot dogs and cokes, greyhound dogs, mounted Sheriff's Reserves, and of course the Trick or Treating.
Heartfelt thanks to all who sponsored and worked so hard to make this event such a success. A special thanks to the Mayor and City Departments for your wholehearted support of this Chamber/PDAC event. There were many happy children and delighted parents on Saturday!
On another note, a committee visited Andrews University to review the progress on the Downtown Revitalization Plan. All is progressing on schedule. Some new ideas to consider are an ice-skating rink in the proposed 'Celebration Green' public park as well as a 'Charter School' in the proposed new West Side residential redevelopment.
PDAC Committees are busy at work fulfilling the Action Plan. Redevelopment is creating a catalog of available sites. Business Recruitment is preparing to contact new tenants for available storefronts. Events is creating a revitalized Downtown Merchants Retail Committee. Zoning is researching recommendations.
PDAC wishes to extend Holiday Greetings to our community and we all look forward to a prosperous 2005! |
