THANK YOU!
A very special and heart felt thank you to all our Chamber members who participated in the Tree/Wreath/Centerpiece Charity Auction. And thank you to those who participated as bidders at the auction. We are very grateful to the anonymous donor who brought the final total up to an even $3300 to share equally between the three not-for-profits chosen this year.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Safe and Prosperous New Year!

In Case You Missed It - The Year 2007 - Plan for 2008

The NewsMonth is a vital link in the communication chain for our Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce members. We thought we would give a brief overview regarding the information presented this past year. If you missed something that you would like to read or something you wish to revisit, remember, every issue of the NewsMonth is online and past issues are archived.

The two newest features highlighted this year was the Chamber's online calendar and Plymouth Business Connections-Chamber Networking Committee. The online calendar can now be updated as soon as information becomes available. When you run your cursor over the event noted on a particular calendar date, a brief summary pops up and if you click on the item, detailed information, if available, will also become visible, for the online calendar only. You may visit this site anytime and check on updates and print as needed. This calendar in hard copy is printed for the mailed versions of the NewsMonth each month. The Plymouth Business Connections hosts a breakfast get-together each month spotlighting different businesses and creating a forum for business networking. This networking group also assists in business after hours. Plymouth Business Connections is premiering a newsletter this December 2007 and will mail hard copies. A pdf copy is also available by clicking here.

In addition to news article submitted by our members noting among other items, their new services, employee awards and accomplishments, and company anniversaries, we include information designed to assist our members in participating in opportunities that draw attention to their businesses. In addition to the Retail Merchants events, (Sidewalk Sale Days in July and September, the Plymopoly promotion, Retail Trick or Treat with the parade of children, the Christmas Basket Promotion) there are the 'Dog Days of Summer', the Community Christmas Tree Lighting, and in its second year, the Charity Auction. The development of the Marshall County Interactive Information Center Kiosks have put our members' information in several locations around Marshall County. This past Spring, Swan Lake hosted the NAIA and Chamber members participated with give away packets of information and coupons. For the past several years, the Chamber's Annual Dinner has hosted the 'MarketPlace of Ideas' with members participating with manned booth setups highlighting their businesses, products and services. And during the Annual Golf outing, we have had Chamber Member Hole Booths, again to give their businesses exposure. These creative booths have greatly added to the golf outing to everyone's delight.

The Chamber's NewsMonth is also a forum to bring attention to community related activities: the Farmers' Market, the Latino Festival, the Yellow River Festival; cultural events, Encore Performing Arts, Heartland Artists, and the needs of the community, not-for-profit fund raisers like the 'Boots for the Bus Stop' sponsored by the Plymouth Police.

In addition to the charm of 'the fun stuff,' the NewsMonth also brings seminars and continuing education opportunities to the membership. There have been workshops, classes, retreats and activities highlighted this past year for MC Council On Aging at the Life Enrichment Center, Plymouth Public Library, Marshall-Starke Development, Crossroads Academy, JobWorks/WorkOne Partner, The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Small Business Development Center, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Ivy Tech and IUSB.

The Chamber's website hosts a variety of information including demographics, information links, Community Outreach Education, coupons and the online calendar. The Chamber's entire membership is online. If you have not checked on your member listing lately, please do. Note the feature of linking your own website (see the business name in red and click) and/or having a pop-up. When the city, state is underlined, click and a screen will 'pop-up'. The member business may put any information they wish in this scroll-able addition. Please do check your member information periodically. Please keep your Chamber office informed of any changes you wish to make.

Your Chamber makes hundreds of referrals to our Chamber member businesses annually. We receive calls and email inquiries everyday from potential customers and reference Chamber member businesses and our website.

The Chamber Gift Certificate program is as active as ever. Each year the use of this program increases. More companies use this program through out the year and during the holiday season, the demand explodes. In 2006 over $100,000 in gift certificates were processed and 2007 will generate as much if not more.

Your EMAIL is the fastest way your Chamber has of communicating updates, reminders about events, and other information that may have an impact on your business. PLEASE email us at plychamber@plychamber.org. Put the subject as: CHECK MY EMAIL. We will then make sure we have the most current information and add to our email address book as needed. All member email addresses are protected. When we do send out updates, we send blind copied.

Additionally, they learned how to give multiple permanent fix solutions instead of 'band-aid fixes'. 'We are always looking for better ways to present options and perform permanent repairs for our clients'.
