Tony and Mary Wood of Bourbon have established a new scholarship to benefit students of Heart and Hands, Inc. who wish to pursue a college education. The Heart and Hands, Inc. Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial assistance to a new student enrolling at Ancilla College who was previously a student of Heart and Hands, Inc. The couple is closely involved with Heart and Hands, Inc. - Tony is the president and Mary serves as the corporate secretary. "We don't know how many potential scientists, doctors, or other leaders are sitting in our classes at Heart and Hands, but this scholarship may plant the seeds for the realization of these dreams," said Mr. Wood, who attended Ancilla himself in 1993. Heart and Hands, Inc. acts as a catalyst between its students and the community by providing or finding answers to students' and others' needs in the immigrant community. In the last three and a half years, the organization has (helped) taught well over 600 students at its Plymouth Welcome Center and over 100 students at its Bremen Welcome Center. "In the coming years," said Mr. Wood, "we see a need for immigrants and students of Heart and Hands, Inc. to have an opportunity for a college education."
