Hey, Yo Hablo Espanol! The best way to learn Spanish is by speaking Spanish. After all, most of us learn by actively doing what we want to learn. The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a conversational Spanish class to Chamber member businesses' employees. This class will gently introduce and comfortably immerse you/your employees into the language. The focus will be not on memorizing pesky grammatical rules, but on effectively communicating in Spanish. Via this method, you will learn to speak Spanish the same way you learned English - by speaking it everyday. Since this class is being designed for Chamber Members, you will learn even more than conversational Spanish. There will also be a focus on specific business/customer service issues. It is designed for busy business people, so it's geared to be fast, easy and powerful. Here are some of the topics that will be covered: What's in a name? Enough said! You will learn all you need to know in class. Dates and Time Dates and time may be universal, but how you communicate this can cause chaos. Pronunciation Understanding the Spanish alphabet will make pronunciation so easy. Greetings How can you make friends/gain customers if you don't play nice? Language Expressions Ask clients to complete applications, fill out documents, phone etiquette, etc. Situational Spanish Ah, here the class will focus on your business needs. Are you in HR, retail, food service, legal services or some other service related industry? Learn one or two phrases that pertain to your business. You choose the phrases. Hamburger in Paradise/ Una Cerveza, Por Favor Planning a business trip/vacation to a Spanish-speaking locale? Learn how to order from a Spanish-language menu and converse with your server. Also learn how to ask tourist-related questions (and understand the answers). Each class will meet once a week, on Tuesdays, from March 4 thru April 22, 2008 (for eight weeks) from 2:30 to 4:30 PM, at the Marshall County Council on Aging / Life Enrichment Center, located at 1305 West Harrison Street, Plymouth. To cover the costs of materials and the instructor's time, there is a $35.00 registration fee per participant. Registration Form Printout (pdf) This is a great opportunity for your employees and for you to learn Spanish in such a way that it will enhance your customer base with our Spanish speaking community. Please fill out the registration form and return to the Chamber office by Wednesday, February 27, 2008. Please make your check out to the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce. ![]()
