YOUR CHAMBER AND THE NEW MILLENNIUM
PRESIDENT'S LETTER

As we start the new millennium I feel it is important to share with you our successes of last year and my outlook for the coming year.

Our success can be closely tied to our unique "one-stop" shopping concept for businesses. All entities involved in economic development are housed within the chamber offices. Any business considering location or expansion can make one call or visit and have virtually all its questions and needs administered (financing, infrastructure, site location, building location, enterprise zone benefits, demographics, and more). This concept, along with the working partnerships discussed earlier, has allowed Plymouth to prosper and shine above other cities our size.

The role of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce shall be to coordinate the dissemination of information, the development of plans, and the implementation of those plans by its members. It also develops and provides community leadership.

The partnership between PIDCO, Plymouth Schools, your chamber, government officials, etc. will hopefully see a high tech industrial park be developed this year. This committee has sent a formal proposal to Indianapolis for funding. We have passed the first hurdle and are waiting anxiously for their approval.

The purpose for business people joining the Chamber of Commerce is in establishing an association to work toward the common goals of free enterprise, increased economic development, new job opportunities, market expansion, and mutual problem solving. The area's future economic well being is directly proportionate to the caliber of economic development that can be generated today. This is why the Chamber of Commerce, as a powerful business association, has a major impact on area business, on income, and on the future ability of any business to succeed. The Chamber of Commerce brings together the leadership and resources of the total community to make this a better place to live, work, and do business.

With unemployment around 2% in Marshall County we need to take care of the businesses established and help them flourish. Toward this end, rest assured that your Chamber Board and Staff will continue to pursue programs designed to help us all be more successful in 2000 and beyond.
