Chambers of Commerce usually receive requests from young students asking for area information to include in their studies of Indiana. We want to share one we just received which includes the following paragraph:

"I am learning that a Chamber of Commerce is an organization of citizens who invest time and money to develop and promote a community. These people work together to improve the economy, and cultural well-being of the community."
Thank you! We want to extend our most heartfelt thanks to our organization of citizens. . . and to many community minded volunteers who have given their time and effort to the events that take place as tradition and the creation of new traditions. Our Chamber office supports a creative atmosphere for citizens of our community to meet, develop and facilitate the ideas that help make our community special. Thank you to Chamber committee members and chairs for their tireless efforts; to all our Chamber members who participate and support Side Walk Sales, the Scavenger Hunt Promotion and the Christmas Basket Promotion; to the community citizens who serve on the Plymouth Pride Task Force and to those who serve the Farmers' Market. A very special thank you to the support given by the Marshall County Sheriff's Reserve, our Plymouth Police and Fire Departments, our Plymouth High School Band and Choir Group and Baseball Team and our wonderful community itself for supporting and enjoying the Halloween Trick or Treat event and the Annual Community Tree Lighting celebration. And thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Claus for all your wonder-filled efforts this 2005 Christmas Holiday season. And for your support of Chamber needs and activities, thank you, everyone!

Chamber President's Message
From the desk of Chamber President 2005
Mike Lintner

Reflection and anticipation typically characterize this time of year. Many people, I think tend to look back and assess their accomplishments during the year just ended; while at the same time establishing goals for the year ahead. The process is really no different for your Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce. Looking back at 2005, I think there are many things we can be extremely proud of.

The retail group, under the leadership of Kay Garrison and Rich Holland, put together a very successful scavenger hunt. We received very positive feed-back from merchants and customers alike regarding this event. Obviously this is something we want to continue. The KIOSK program that you read about in the December news letter is another significant accomplishment that your Chamber staff have worked on for a long time. This program gives Chamber members, yet another way to promote their goods and services. I think this program will experience tremendous growth in the years ahead.

We had a very nice Annual meeting and we were very fortunate to have Patricia Miller, Indiana Secretary of Commerce, as our keynote speaker. The Plymouth Area Chamber's roll in the efforts that brought Medallion Cabinetry to our area, I think, is also something we can be very proud of. I truly believe that Plymouth prospers when the areas around us also prosper.

I want to thank all of the staff of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce for their hard work and dedication. But most of all I want to thank the Chamber members for their continued support.

I wish you all the very best in 2006.
Mike

Collins and Company GMAC Real Estate is now Collins and Company Realtors, Inc. Owner Chris Collins announced today that he has dropped the GMAC Real Estate franchise in favor of going independent. 'We've been associated with a real estate franchise for the past 20 years,' noted Collins. 'The first 15 years were with Better Homes and Gardens, which was acquired by the financing giant GMAC about 5 years ago. We had a great relationship with both franchises but feel our royalty fees could be better spent advertising in our local market.' Other than the name change everything will stay the same at the Collins office. 'We actually are expecting a boost in our referral network available only to independent brokers' Collins stated. Collins and Company has offices in Plymouth and Bremen with plans to open a branch in Culver in 2006. Collins was recently recognized by the local board of realtors for celebrating his 30th year of business in Plymouth.
