125 Years of Progress
A Birthday Celebration!

The City of Plymouth, Indiana will celebrate 125 Years of Progress, commencing with the Mayor's Ball this January 1998. This year long celebration is in the planning stages now and your ideas are welcome and will be most appreciated. Needed are service clubs and organizations who will sponsor and/or manage an event. Needed are Retail, Industrial and Commercial businesses that will help promote and facilitate the celebration, as well as volunteers who will donate their time to make this very special celebration a success!!

Some of the ideas generated thus far include a walking and riding tour highlighting historic or period buildings, the actual birthday party, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 1998, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new fire station with a birthday cake bake-off with prizes, and a grand July 4th weekend with bands, dancing, activities, games, fireworks, and a wonderful Sunday service in the park, with an old fashioned picnic. Letters will go out soon searching for concert bands, singing groups, and drama groups. Perhaps the "Pops"! There are ideas for square dancing, balloon races, horse drawn carriages, wagon rides, period dress contest, beard contest, a parade, and art events. One idea being facilitated now is the Banner Project. More ideas are welcome and helping hands are needed. Send your ideas in writing to:
