Deborah L. Young, accounting manager, and Shawna L. Thomas, manager of the Administration and Claims Divisions of Gibson Insurance Group, have each been awarded the Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) designation by the Insurance Institute of America. Earning the AIS designation requires completion of a series of courses and national examinations covering property and liability insurance principles, personal and commercial insurance, insurance policy analysis, and the principles of total quality management for insurance personnel. Gibson Insurance Group is a multi-line insurance broker and risk management service firm employing 65 employees with offices in South Bend and Plymouth.
J. Kevin Hughes has joined Gibson Insurance Group as an account executive responsible for providing surety, risk management, and insurance services to clients in the construction industry. Hughes began his business career as a credit analyst and commercial loan representative with Society Bank. He then moved to United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company as a surety underwriter. From there, he made the transition to Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland (now Zurich Surety) as a senior account executive in the surety division. He later became underwriting manager in the company's Indianapolis office where his responsibilities included management of surety underwriting sales, and marketing. Hughes holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Valparaiso University and is a member of the Construction Financial Managers Association of Central Indiana.

Allied Healthcare is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members: Brian Cassani, D.C. has been in private practice since 1985, and has joined the Allied Healthcare practice as of May 2002. Dr. Schaefer and Dr. Cassani have known each other since their childhood in St. Louis, MO, and both graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic. Dr. Cassani's emphasis in practice includes general nutrition and injury rehabilitation. He is currently accepting new patients by appointment. Also joining is massage therapist, Crystal Johnson. Crystal provides general Swedish massage, specific sports massage, and deep tissue myofascial release. Massages can be scheduled for 30 or 60 minute sessions by appointment only. Gift certificates are also available.
