Workforce Development Services - Workforce Opportunities Committee
Workforce Development Services and the Workforce Opportunities Committee, (made up of local business and school personnel, community service and government agencies) in cooperation with the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the sixth annual Job Fest 2000, April 15th at Plymouth High School, on Randolph St. Job Fest 2000 is a one-day event bringing together young adults ages 16 to 21 and area businesses to one location to provide young adults with the opportunity for employment and experience in the process. This event also provide businesses with the opportunity to pre-screen prospective employees, issue job applications and provide information on job requirements, duties and responsibilities, and hire quality workers. Most importantly, businesses make a positive investment in the community by investing in the future of its youth.
This year WDS conducted focus group sessions with businesses from a broad range of industries and with the education and service organizations to gain an understanding of how the need between business and education can be met. Integrating the comments from these focus groups into Job Fest 2000 has put it on its way to helping area businesses and young adults achieve their employment goals.
Participation is easy and free for all employers and youth alike. Young adults may pick up a Participation Packer in their school guidance office after March 20, 2000.
