Plymouth Exhibition Game is Right Around the Corner
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (Plymouth Campus), the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and the South Bend Silver Hawks have teamed up once again to bring professional baseball to the Plymouth area this year. "We are very excited about coming back to Plymouth to help kick off another Silver Hawks season," says Jeff Breiler Director of Business Development for the Silver Hawks. This is an exciting time for the Silver Hawks, who will be celebrating their 15th year of professional baseball in South Bend this season.
Plymouth day is April 3rd beginning with a press conference at 9:00 AM featuring Plymouth's Mayor Yeazel, Mark Neidig, Director of Community Affairs for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Christian Carlson, General Manager for the Silver Hawks, Dick Schofield, Manager and the Silver Hawks' mascot, Swoop. Throughout the morning Silver Hawks players will be visiting Plymouth schools, and Swoop will be visiting downtown businesses.
From 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM there will be a luncheon at Christo's Banquet Center with Silver Hawks players, Plymouth area business people and Plymouth school children that will be selected through an essay contest. The essay will be answering the question "What does America mean to you?" There will be 3 winners at every table escorted by their parents and a Silver Hawks player.
The Silver Hawks exhibition game vs. Bethel College will start at 6:00 PM at Bill Nixon Field. The gates will open at 5:30 and will feature a Logo Ball giveaway to the first 500 fans. There will be a barbecue compliments of the Plymouth Chamber, Fun Zone inflatable games and much more. Following the game will be a fireworks show sponsored by St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (Plymouth Campus). In the event of inclement weather, there will be a Fan Fest in the auxiliary gym at the Plymouth High School.
The South Bend Silver Hawks are a Class A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Midwest League. They play 140 games from April to September, including 70 games at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium. Opening day is Thursday, April 4th at 6:30 PM. The Silver Hawks play the Lansing Lugnuts (Chicago Cubs affiliate). The South Bend Silver Hawks franchise is a division of Palisades Baseball, Inc.
