Speaker: Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr.
He is a Presidential Medal recipient, presented by President Bill Clinton at the White House for "the performance of exemplary deeds of service for the nation." The medal is one of the highest honors an American can receive. He is one of the only two Latinos in history to receive a Presidential Medal for extraordinary accomplishments in promoting civic participation and leadership development. Other distinguished Americans honored by the President, along with Dr. Andrade, included baseball legend Hank Aaron, world-boxing legend Muhammad Ali, and film legend Elizabeth Taylor.
He is one of the most educated leaders in America: Dr. Andrade has earned a B.A. from Howard Payne University, a M.Ed. from Antioch College, an Ed.S. and a Doctorate from Northern Illinois University, and has just completed a post-doctorate M.A. from Loyola University Chicago, his 5th earned degree.
He is President of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute; The Institute has trained 200,000 present & future leaders, registered two million new voters, published 315 studies on Hispanic demographics, and sponsors the largest leadership conference in the world.
He is a weekly columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, the only national leader writing a regular column in a major publication.
Past:
He was a political commentator on ABC-7 television for six years in Chicago; the only Latino
commentator in the nation appearing on English language radio or television.
He has worked and participated in the democratization of Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama,
Colombia, Paraguay, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and Haiti.
He has been recognized three times as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics in America.
He was inducted into the "Society of Life Models" by OMNI Youth Services for the impact of his
work in promoting education and leadership development for high school and college students.
He has received numerous awards for distinguished service and lifetime achievement.
