Chamber's Annual Dinner Awards & Market Place of Ideas

The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner is the forum for publicly recognizing and honoring citizens who have made, by their selfless service, contributions for the betterment of our area communities; contributions that have made Plymouth and Marshall County a better place to live, work and raise a family. Each year we ask that our community submit nominations for those individuals for this recognition.

The date by which the nominations are to be submitted to the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN 46563, is April 9, 2007. The annual dinner target date is mid April 2007. The April NewsMonth will have in it the actual annual dinner invitation.

Nominations for this public honor are for people who qualify through lifetime achievement or extraordinary contributions in the past year. The top award will be for Distinguished Citizen. The Chamber will also give awards for Volunteer, Youth Service and Public Servant. A five-person committee, separate from the Chamber, will select the Distinguished Citizen based on the nominations turned into the committee. The Distinguished Citizen award will also mean $500.00 from the Chamber to be donated in their name to a charity of the winner's choice. Each award recipient will receive a plaque and another plaque will be located at the Chamber office with award winners' names posted.

Nomination forms are available at the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, Sears-Plymouth, Wild Birds Unlimited, Martin's Super Markets-Plymouth, and Treat's Squire Shop. You may also submit online using this form. Awards will be announced at the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner, date and location to be announced. The community is invited to attend.

Again this year, the Annual Dinner will host 'The Market Place of Ideas'. This opportunity is being offered to Chamber member businesses. Ten display tables will be available for member businesses to showcase their business and speak with other members, to answer any questions or explain products and / or services. The 'Market Place of Ideas' was very well received last year and many have asked that this event once again be a part of the annual dinner. The 'Market Place of Ideas' will take place during the social hour preceding dinner. This opportunity lends itself to both the 'vendor' and those who have not had the chance to visit the represented Chamber member business.

We do understand that without a date and place, it is difficult to plan, but if you are interested in participating, please let us know. We will keep our call list in the order received and as soon as the date and place is set, we will call from the list to see if the date is do-able for you. We will call until we have the ten participating vendors. There is a $10 display table fee. Please call us at 574-936-2323 to sign up for the 'Market Place of Ideas.'

There is one other participation opportunity we offer our members to enhance the Annual Dinner and bring recognition to our member businesses. Those who wish to contribute door prizes to this event are also asked to let us know. The prize can be a product or a store gift certificate, and remember to make sure that your donation is well marked with your business name and location. Please bring your contribution to the Chamber office at 120 N. Michigan St. well ahead of mid-April. Thank you!!!

National Boys & Girls Club Week
Every day after school, kids from across our community have a safe place to go and grow - the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County. Known as 'The Positive Place for Kids,' the Club provides guidance-oriented character development programs on a daily basis for children 8-18 years old, conducted by a full-time professional staff. Key Boys & Girls Club programs emphasize leadership development, education and career exploration, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation. April 2-6, 2007 has been designated as Boys & Girls Club Week in Marshall County. Every year at this time, we celebrate our organization and its achievements over the past year. Using a tried-and-true method of attracting kids with fun, wholesome activities, then involving them in a wide array of education, cultural and character-building programs, the Club has helped hundreds of kids in Marshall County overcome barriers, dream of a brighter future and grow into responsible, productive citizens-the future leaders of Marshall County! The Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County is celebrating our 12th year and currently serves over 500 children throughout the County. To celebrate Boys & Girls Club Week the children of the Club will be participating in special events throughout the week. We would like to invite you, our neighbors and fellow Chamber Members to join our celebration at a Chamber After Hours Event. Please join us at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County on Thursday April 5, 2007. This is our opportunity to showcase the Club and for you to visit with the staff and children and see first hand the 'Positive Place for Kids in Marshall County.'
