Chamber Annual Dinner Awards & Marketplace of Ideas
The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner is now in its eighth year as the forum for publicly recognizing and honoring citizens, who have made, by their selfless service, contributions that have made Plymouth and Marshall County a better place to live, work and raise a family. Each year we ask that our community submit nominations of individuals for this recognition.
The date by which the nominations are to be submitted to the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN 46563, is April 10, 2008. The target date for the Chamber's annual dinner is after mid April 2008. Pending final confirmation of our annual speaker, the April NewsMonth is scheduled to have the dinner invitation insert.
Nominations for this public honor are for people who qualify through lifetime achievement or extraordinary contributions in the past year. The top award will be for Distinguished Citizen. The Chamber will also give awards for Volunteer, Youth Service and Public Servant. A five-person committee, separate from the Chamber, will select the Distinguished Citizen based on the nominations turned into the committee. The Chamber will also donate $500 to the Distinguished Citizen award recipient's charity of choice in the recipient's name.
Nomination forms are available at the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce office, and these Plymouth area Chamber member businesses: Martin's Super Markets, 865 E. Jefferson, Lake City Bank, 862 E. Jefferson, Fitness Forum at the LifePlex, 2855 Miller Dr., The Memory Zone Scrapbook Store, 3012 Miller Drive, Centier Bank, both the downtown branch and the Oak Road branch, Miller's Assisted Living on Oakhill Ave., Felke Florist, 627 S. Michigan, M.C. Council on Aging at the Life Enrichment Center, 1305 W. Harrison, and Walgreen's, 2014 N. Michigan. You may also submit online using this form. Awards will be announced at the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner (date and location to be announced). The community is invited to attend.
The nomination criterion is as follows: Distinguished Citizen - awarded to a person who has made positive contributions to the quality of life in our community. Volunteer - awarded to a person who contributes their time and talents to worthwhile organizations. Youth Service - awarded to a person who demonstrates exemplary service to the youth of the community. Public Servant - awarded to the person who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the public sector.

Again this year, the Annual Dinner will host 'The MarketPlace of Ideas.' This opportunity is being offered to Chamber member businesses. Ten display tables will be available for member businesses to showcase their businesses and speak with other members, to answer questions and explain products and/or services they provide. The 'MarketPlace of Ideas' will take place during the social hours preceding dinner. This opportunity lends itself to both the 'vendor' and those who have not had the chance to visit the represented Chamber member business.
We do understand that without a date and place, it is difficult to plan, but if you are interested in participating, please let us know. We will keep our call list in the order received and as soon as the date and location is set, we will call from this list to see if the date is do-able for you. We will continue to call until we have the ten participating vendors. There is a $10 display table fee. Please call us at 574-936-2323 to sign up for the 'MarketPlace of Ideas.'
Our Chamber annual dinner is a great place for member exposure. There is one more opportunity Chamber members may take advantage of for recognition at this dinner. You may contribute door prizes. The prize can be a product or an in-store gift certificate. Make sure whatever you contribute is well marked with the business name and address. Those who wish to contribute door prizes to this event are asked to drop off your item(s) to the Chamber office, 120 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, no later than April 10th. Thank you.
