Music in the Park
Make your plans now to have fun, enjoy friends, listen to music and just relax from the weekday grind on Thursday evenings in July. Join the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Encore Performing Arts as they partner to bring you “Music in the Park” summer series. This new series of live concerts takes place at the Young Amphitheater located in Plymouth Centennial Park.

A variety of talented area bands will be showcased in July and August, beginning with the Chamber kicking off the first event with a picnic:

Ø July 8, Jassy Grazz, cross references coming from funk, reggae, classic rock, hip-hop, and a touch of jazz. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with performances to begin at 6:30 p.m. Do not worry about cooking, come early and enjoy a picnic in the park that you can purchase from the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce for a nominal fee. You will have a choice of sandwiches, chips and a beverage. Let the Chamber members do the grilling for you! (Look for details in the June “NewsMonth”)

Ø July 17, DJF, acoustic harmony of original music, contemporary, classic folk/rock and traditional ballads.
Ø July 22, Hillbilly Winos, an alt-country band featuring edgy songs and heartfelt playing. Band member Kent Arnsbarger, was a former percussion specialist at PHS.
Ø July 29, Local High School Bands -
#1 features Anthony Glaub as drummer
#2 features Will Kubley as lead guitarist

The summer series big finale will be on:
Ø Saturday, August 14 , Backbeat…A Tribute, this group of performers from Toledo, Ohio brings two hours of nostalgic Beatles' music from early years to Sergeant Pepper years. (August 14 show to begin at 7:00 p.m.).

Russell Studio
2255 E. Shore Drive, Culver; 800-480-8660 or 574-842-4232; www.russellstudio.com
Russell Studio has made a specialty of traveling to clients to do family or executive portraits on location, where subjects are at ease in their own surroundings. Russell Studio customizes portrait sittings on location and has made an art form of “painting with light.” In the past ninety-nine years, Russell has built a four-generation clientele from Florida to Michigan. The studio's credentials include portraits of a Pope, five US Presidents, Norman Rockwell for two covers of The Saturday Evening Post, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, and a former Miss America. Russell opened a studio at Gaskill's farm near Culver in 1986 to serve Academy students and parents, growing into a senior portrait business serving seniors from Granger to Greenwood. Dave Gaskill now does custom sittings in his own 12-acre portrait park, complete with large water features and woods. Commissioned work to do location weddings has spread from Stowe, Vermont to Tampa, Florida to Nashville, TN to Plymouth, IN. Visit their website to visualize important portrait opportunities from weddings, through childhood to senior portraits, from executive portraits and parents together to three and four generations. “Spontaneity of the Shutter” enables portrait photographs to be commissioned into oils, watercolors and pastels by the studio's noted painter Marilyn Zapp of San Juan Capistrano, CA. Russell Studio portraits are hanging at Treat's Bridal Shoppe, Penguin Point and Christo's Banquet Center.

THIRD LATINO FESTIVAL 2004
Saturday, June 19, 2004
Centennial Park Amphitheater, Plymouth, IN

Since June 2001, Heart and Hands, Inc. has been helping limited-English speaking people of our community with English classes, conversation classes, translations and referrals to area social services. In February this year, we opened another teaching center in Bremen, with the cooperation of the Bremen Public Schools. We also provide a number of other cross-cultural classes and events.

In June 2002, Heart and Hands, Inc. held the First Latino Festival. Fourteen hundred people attended. In 2003, over 3000 enjoyed a great day for the Second Latino Festival.

This year we anticipate an even larger crowd. In an effort to keep this event admission-free for the entire community, we are asking your help in sponsoring the 2004 Latino Festival.

Sponsors of $1,000 or more will be provided with banner space and a free informational booth space.

Sponsors of $250 or more will receive an informational booth space.

All sponsors, who provide us with a logo, will have their logo included on the 150-200 T-shirts worn by the volunteers at the Festival.

If you have any questions, please contact Becky Griffy at Heart and Hands, Inc. at 574-935-3846; e-mail: heartandhandsinc@earthlink.net.
