A Community with Arts is a Community with Heart Part of the charm of Plymouth is the cultural events available to this community. To be a place of destination, a community needs interest - culture... Encore's mission is: To encourage, promote, develop, and program performing arts for the citizens of the greater Marshall County Area. ìA Community with Arts is a Community with Heart! With this the 33rd season Encore continues its commitment to bring performing arts to Marshall County and surrounding areas and to make live performances available to people of all ages. Encore strives to maintain a strong performing arts program in our community and establish links with other individuals and organizations to do so. Here is a brief over view of this 2006-2007 season. Dan joined the firm in 2001 working in the area of drainage and storm sewer design. In the early 1960's, Don Kinney, Sr. and wife Dorothy had a dream. They saw a golf course where the family farm had been since 1889. With their friend and neighbor, Aloysius (Wish) Humphrey, and with the help of Wish, Don, Dorothy, Don, Jr., Dana, David, Dee Anna, and yes, even Grandma Rachel and great-uncle Delbert Kinney, they built their dream. In 1966, their dream became a reality; the Tri-Way Golf Club, a 9-hole, par 35 golf-course. Few courses were in operation in Marshall County then. For $1.25 you could walk 9 holes. There were no golf cars; they came later. In the early 70's, the second 9 holes across 4A Road were constructed, and in 1972, Tri-Way Golf Club became a regulation 18-hole, par 71 course. In 1998, Don Sr., passed away. All of the Kinney businesses were too much for 75 year old Dorothy, so she asked Don, Jr. and his wife, Jan if they would move back to Plymouth and run the golf course. Without hesitation, they said yes so the business could remain in the family. In their eighth year of ownership, Don and Jan have been making improvements to the course every year, including adding a driving range and expanding the clubhouse. To celebrate 40 years of operation, Tri-Way will sponsor a number of events in the month of July, including retro rates - 1966 green fees; best 1960's golf outfit contest; drawings and prizes for customers. (Today)," a free Spanish publication published by the Pilot News. "This publication helps to bridge the communication gap between this growing part of our community and the many advertisers here," said Rick Kreps, publisher of "Marshall County Hoy!" and the Pilot News. The free publication will be distributed at news stands, businesses and other locales throughout Marshall County, focusing on Plymouth and Bremen. The first issue highlights Hispanic weddings and quinceaneras, the traditional "rite of passage" party for all 15-year-old Hispanic girls. "This general interest publication for Marshall County's Hispanic community will focus on a different topic each issue," said Kreps. The next issue has an advertising deadline of May 19 and will center on home improvement, as well previewing the big Latino Festival in Plymouth's Centennial Park to be held June 17. The Pilot News has had great interest in this publication from numerous advertisers wishing to connect with this large part of our community. "We're looking forward to seeing this bi-monthly publication grow and increase readership," added Kreps.
