A Heads-Up for Chamber Members

We are still working on a date for the Chamber Annual Dinner. Therefore, those who wish to submit nominations for Distinguished Citizen, Volunteer, Youth Service and Public Servant may continue to do so. Also, there is still available space for the Market Place of Ideas.

The Chamber Annual Dinner continues to be in a holding pattern as of this writing - soooooo, let's talk about GOLF! Our Chamber Annual Golf. With so many new members this year, we wanted to give this heads up for the new members in case they had any questions about these activities.

The 16th Annual Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Golf Invitational will be at Swan Lake Resort on Wednesday, August 1, 2007. The annual picnic, location pending, will be the preceding evening, Tuesday, July 31.

It is time to make plans for these events.

PICNIC-July 31:
Every year we invite our members to donate a prize to our Annual Chamber Picnic for our drawing that is conducted at the end of the evening. You may donate a prize even if you are not able to attend-just drop it off at the Chamber office by July 30th. To bring a potential customer back to your business, please make sure to have the item well marked with your business name and address or have the product packaging visible. The Chamber office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. The invitation for the picnic will be in either the June or the July NewsMonth.

GOLF-August 1:
A four-person team is still $600, the game is the Florida Scramble, the annual picnic tickets are included, and the day finishes with the awards banquet-good food, prizes, and the best-dressed team trophy will be awarded.

Last year we opened this event to our membership with participation in HOLE BOOTHS. This new twist on our golf outing was very well received and very much enjoyed by both the players and the booth participants. There are 18 holes with 18 possible booth spots. The booth participation fee is still only $50. If you wish to reserve a booth spot now, call the Chamber office (936-2323) and get on the list. All your materials, tables, chairs, and your complete set-up is up to you.

Also, remember, we need cart drivers and hole watcher volunteers. This is a fun day in the sun and you do meet a lot of people.

The June NewsMonth will have the Annual Golf invitation and the Hole Booth sign up inserts. If you wish, you may call the Chamber office now (936-2323) and sign up your golf team(s), reserve a hole booth or volunteer for the event.

Opening Day Farmers' Market Saturday, May 12

The roast will benefit a local non-for-profit organization. Every Saturday will feature entertainment and activities for the youngsters. The venue at River and Garro Streets east of Michigan ends Saturday, October 13. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 574-936-2323.

Chamber Members Invited to Participate at Chamber's Information Booth Space
Again this year, Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce members are invited to participate in this event as part of the Chamber's space. This tent space is for sharing information about your business only. We did not buy space for vending sales items. The space area is approximately 10 feet by 10 feet and will be shared by the members who sign up with the Chamber to participate. Set up time is at 10:00 AM.

Here is what you need:
  1. Call the Chamber 936-2323 to get on the participation list.
  2. Bring your own card table and chairs. (depending on number of participants, sharing with others would be good)
  3. The Chamber's space is under a tent, so you may not need sunscreen.
  4. Bring snacks and soft drinks and water to get through the day.
  5. Bring your brochures, your displays and your business cards.
  6. You are sharing space with other Chamber members. Sharing break time so everyone gets a chance to see the rest of the festival would be nice.
  7. It is hoped that the booth space would be occupied for the duration of the festival. Involve others from your business and plan for a fun day!
  8. You are responsible for cleaning up and taking your things back to your office.
Please do remember, that if you want to have your own space and recognition, contact Heart and Hands to purchase your own space if available 935-3846.

There is no charge to our Chamber members for this participation. Call 936-2323 to sign up and take advantage of this opportunity.

The front page of the April NewsMonth informed our membership about the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics awarding Plymouth and Swan Lake Resort the 2007-2008 National Men's Golf Championships, May 20-25. This great compliment will give our community the opportunity to showcase our hometown warmth and the variety of places to go, things to buy and sites to see.

A national event is a huge undertaking. With the support of the local businesses and community leaders the NAIA tournament will put Plymouth on a national stage. Many companies and individuals have stepped forward to help this event become a reality and in the April NewsMonth your Chamber outlined some ways for our members to participate in this event.

Now we have specific needs and are asking for volunteers to serve.
  1. Posters and table tents need distribution throughout our area.
  2. Goodie Bags- 1500 Bags are to be prepared. Please contribute coupons from your store, pens/pencils, note pads, "little NAIA gifts of welcome" something our guests will remember and that will entice them to revisit Plymouth.
  3. Ambassadors of Good Will needed at the information tent:
Monday, May 21 through Friday, May 25, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM- Please let us know when you would be able to serve.
This is an exclusive invitation to our Chamber members to participate, to show off our community and to have your own business recognized.

Please call the Chamber office (936-2323) to let us know how and when you would like to participate.
