Howard Gibbs of Howard's Classy Glass has received the Creativity Award at the Heartland Artists Gallery 2002 Regional Art Show. The piece titled Memorial & Rebirth is a handcrafted, cut stained-glass lantern reflecting his feelings since September 11th. This tribute piece, has the twin towers on one side and on the other side, a tree representing rebirth. This piece along with other Howard's Classy Glass creations can be viewed on his website, www.howardsclassyglass.com.

Duane L. Miller, Partner, Baldwin-Miller Financial Advisors, has earned the Chartered Financial consultant (ChFC) professional designation from the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. The nation's oldest and largest, accredited, distance educational institution, the college offers professional designation and graduate degree programs for those seeking career growth in insurance and financial services. Candidates for the ChFC designation must complete an eight-course curriculum of study and 16 hours of supervised examinations, and fulfill stringent experience and ethics requirements. Over 37,000 individuals have been awarded the ChFC designation since its inception in 1982. The ChFC program focuses on the complete financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a client's total financial situation; identify and establish specific financial goals; and formulate, implement and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. The subject matter covered by the program includes financial planning, wealth accumulation and estate planning, income taxation, life and health insurance, business taxation and planning, investments, and retirement planning. Duane has been a financial advisor for nine years. He resides in Plymouth with his wife, Cheri. Duane is very active with the Marshall County Older Adult Services, and Marshall County United Way. He currently is an independent advisor with Linsco/Private ledger.

The Cross Walk

The Cross Walk is the newly remodeled store that was The Bible Bookstore, which had been a mainstay in the downtown area for nearly 30 years. Mike and Judy Delp purchased the business August 1st from Ardyce Kreider, whose mother Dorothy Trygg, previously owned the store. The Cross Walk features a lounge area for shoppers to relax with their favorite book during their lunch hour or any time. This area also is available free for community groups for meetings either during or after hours. New to the store is a touch screen music center as well as many more books, CD's, cassettes, videos, DVD's, gifts and cards. Future plans include topical workshops and discussion groups, plus activities for all ages and stages of life.
