Technology is Business Opportunity
One of the inserts in the September 2002 NewsMonth was a "Technology Needs Survey." This survey basically asked what developing technology would be of interest and benefit to your company. Based on the responses received, the Community & Business Development Committee of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce has developed a Technology Seminar to be held at Crossroads Academy (1800 Jim Neu Drive, Plymouth) on Wednesday, November 6, 2002. Two sessions are planned, one for the late morning (11:30-1:00) and one for the late afternoon (5:00-6:30). Each session will be the same.
The following is just a little preview of the presentations to be delivered. AND if you have not

Adding Credit Card Processing to a Web Site

Companies need to be able to make it easy for these customers to purchase from them rather than the competition. Adding credit card processing to web sites allows the customer to purchase at their convenience while allowing you to capture a sale that was going to occur. Videoconferencing Demonstration

This session will preview the new videoconferencing equipment that has recently been installed at Crossroads Academy. The system is IP based, meaning that the connection is made through the Internet. This system will be made available to the local business community to hold videoconference meetings with home offices, customers or suppliers anywhere in the world. The receiving end will only need to have a high speed Internet connection along with some type of functional videoconference device (Web cam or more sophisticated). The connection is live, two way, video and audio. The same equipment has been installed in seven area school corporations and Ancilla College. The systems in the school corporations will be used for distance learning, both by K-12 students as well as adult learners pursuing a college degree or participating in continuing education.
