Holiday Baskets - Basket Promotion for 2006

The Christmas season is fast approaching. Our Holiday Basket promotion is now a Chamber tradition, anticipated by our community with great delight. We want to thank each of you for your past participation and we want to extend this invitation to all members, present and new, to sign- up to be a part of this special promotion this 2006 season. The Christmas Basket promotion continues to be a very successful community effort and terrific exposure for our membership. Thousands of customers' entries are received each year through the member businesses that sign on as registration sites.

Gift Baskets filled with products and services, either sold or produced here in Plymouth, is given away, one each week, during the four weeks before Christmas. Retailers may want to contribute specialty items they would like to promote. And, every year, the Retail Merchants Committee extends an invitation to our Industrial members to feature products manufactured here; for example, Del Monte Foods Corporation ketchup or Bay Valley Foods, products. Highlighting these products will raise public awareness of items sold and produced in our community.

For those who sign on as registration sites, this promotion brings customers into your store each week to sign up for these four drawings. Each week, the participating business is to bring that week's sign-up slips to the Chamber office by the following Monday. Customers must sign up each week. Each drawing is made from that batch of sign up slips gathered the preceding week.

For a Chamber member business to participate, please call us at 936-2323 to let us know to expect your participation, as a gift giver and as a registration site. Then, bring your four like items, the goods or services you want to donate from your store or business, to the Chamber before 4:00 P.M. on Friday, November 17. Remember to make sure your business is identified (business name and location) on each product item. And remember, too, your own in-house gift certificates will bring the recipients back into your store.

We will give you the sign-up slips, bucket, and posters. We prepare the gift baskets, and display the contents of one basket in our front window, along with the list of participating businesses beginning the week of Thanksgiving.

The first drawing will be Monday, November 27, followed by drawings scheduled for December 4th, 11th, and 18th.

Our Chamber members are the gift givers and registration sites. They benefit with name recognition and the influx of customers during this promotion. Your Chamber Staff facilitates the promotion for you, and we reap the most delightful benefit- - presenting the baskets to the winners. Over the years, the very grateful recipients have tugged at our heart strings and made this a very 'giving' promotion!

Thanks for your help in this promotion!
We wish everyone a prosperous holiday season!

Easterday Construction Co., Inc. of Culver received the Judges' Special Award, the top honor, at the 19th Annual Indiana Associated Builder's & Contractors Construction Awards Banquet in Indianapolis on September 27th for the Dr. James Ford Historic Home in Wabash, Indiana. Projects were selected by an outside panel of judges based on their construct ability, uniqueness, overall impact of the project, and safety records. This project was submitted for consideration in the Historic Renovation category. Over 500 people attended the event and over 150 awards were presented. The Dr. James Ford Historic Home is located at 177 Hill St., Wabash, IN. It is a restored 1870's Doctor's Home and Practice. The project was begun as a renovation of Dr. Ford's home by his grandson, Richard E. Ford, and the Charley Creek Foundation he founded. Dr. Ford was an architect and a surgeon in the Civil War. He based his practices in his home. The Dr. James Ford Historic Home not only highlights the life of Dr. James Ford, but also gives a glimpse into the past history of Wabash. It is maintained as a period home, changing displays to reflect the season. Dr. Ford's service in the military is highlighted showing what the Civil War meant to residents of Indiana. In addition to the home being representative of the period, the grounds have been planted with landscaping appropriate to the times. The grounds include kitchen gardens demonstrating the types of food that would have been grown there. For further information about this historic site, visit their website,†http://www.jamesfordmuseum.org. Easterday Construction Co., Inc. is extremely proud of this project, and the work their crews perform. They are pleased to have received this statewide recognition. CROSSROADS ACADEMY

All of us have invested a significant amount of money in technology over the past few years. As responsible business people, we need to ask ourselves the following questions:
  1. Am I getting my money's worth out of the thousands of dollars that I have invested in servers, workstations, and network operating systems?
  2. Now that my company has high speed access to the Internet, is my network at risk?
  3. Have I given my administrators the proper tools and education so that they can effectively protect my investment and help my employees to be as productive as possible?
Crossroads Academy, together with our partner The Integration Group, is beginning a new training campaign to help you maximize your investment in technology. We have a wide range of Certification classes including:
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment
  • Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure Hosts and Network Services
  • Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows XP Professional
These classes are all taught by Microsoft Certified Trainers who spend most of their time on site implementing the same network solutions that they are teaching about.

Please call Gerry Fults at 574-936-8834 to inquire about these classes for you or your employees. You owe it to yourself to make sure that your network administrators are properly trained so as to deal with today's ever-changing IT world.

Sincerely,
Curt D. Feece, MCSE/MCT
