Healthy Families of Marshall County, a division of Marshall-Starke Development Center, Inc., addresses child abuse in our community and is now available for Marshall County parents. An intensive home visiting program, Healthy Families offers a wide range of services to improve the functioning of the entire family and therefore provide the health and well-being that every child deserves. When families are helped to overcome challenges with housing, finances, and social concerns, stress is reduced and parents are better able to care for, and enjoy, their child. The Healthy Families FSW assists parents with budgeting and finances, transportation, effective disciplining for their child, ways to continue education and employment, and provides information on a wide range of community services available. The connection between the family and their Family Support Worker is personal, comprehensive, flexible, culturally appropriate, and long-term, all necessary components in the goal to successfully reduce child abuse and neglect.
Healthy Families of Marshall County is a recipient of the Indiana Children's Trust Fund Grant. This grant is funded in part by the sale of the Kid's First Indiana license plate. Through Healthy Families of Marshall County, these funds help in the prevention of child abuse right here in our community. The funds from the sale of these plates directly benefits the respective county in Indiana in which they are purchased. Therefore, when you purchase this plate at the Marshall County BMV, your money benefits our community's children.
