Building Business Partnerships to Support Work / Life Issues
Changes in today's work force have created new challenges for employers. Employers across the nation are discovering that support of employee's work and personal life issues can bring about significant increases in individual and work group effectiveness. Companies addressing the issue of quality, affordable child and dependent care are receiving in return a workforce with reduced stress and increased morale.
Businesses want initiatives that pay for themselves. There are a variety of programs businesses are investing in, such as Child Care Resources and Referral Services, Section 125 Pre-Tax Flex Accounts, Back-Up, Sick Child, or Odd-Hour Care, Child Care Vouchers, Child Care partnerships, and others. As more and more companies are implementing work and family programs and policies, their experience also indicates reduced absenteeism and tardiness, increased productivity, enhanced recruitment efforts, a decrease in job turnover rates, and overall favorable responses from employees.
The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a seminar on Building Business Partnerships to Support Work/Life Issues: What's In It For My Business? The speaker is Charlene Speicher, Regional Business Partnership Specialist with the Indiana Business Specialist Project.
