Ivy Tech State College will launch three new career/technical programs and a new liberal arts program this fall. The Biotechnology Program prepares students for jobs as science technicians in the growing biotechnology sector, or for transfer to baccalaureate degree programs in biotechnology, biology, chemistry or other related areas. The Paralegal Program prepares students for employment as paralegal professionals or for further education. The associate of science degree option transfers to the bachelor's degree program at Ball State University. The Paramedic Science Program was developed in cooperation with Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and the South Bend Fire Department to help meet the demand for paramedics locally and statewide. Program graduates may transfer to on-line baccalaureate programs in health services at the University of Southern Indiana and human resource development at Indiana State University. The Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts degree enables students to take the first two years of a four-year liberal arts degree at Ivy Tech State College. The program will be offered initially with a concentration in history, with future concentrations planned in psychology, English and other fields. The history concentration transfers to the bachelors degree program in history at IUSB. The biotechnology and paramedic science programs are offered on the South Bend campus. The Memory Zone Scrapbook Store participates in a national scrapbook book club known as the NYOBC or Not Your Ordinary Book Club. This book club is supported by Pine Cone Press, an outstanding scrapbook idea book company. Members meet once a month and test their creativity. Recently, The Memory Zone members were invited to participate in a "Best of the Book Club" layout contest. Three members, Denise Beckmann, Jarzelle McCollough, and Theresa Casad, of "Croppe-a-lotte Crew" (their chapters name) were selected to have their layouts in the idea book, scheduled for release sometime in September. In addition to the three members being featured in the idea book, both Jarzelle McCollough and Denise Beckmann were asked to be members of the Pine Cone Press Design Team, which means their names and layouts will be featured in other idea books to come by Pine Cone Press. The Memory Zone is very proud of all three of featured artists. If you know these individuals, be sure to congratulate them on a job well done. All are invited to stop in and see their layouts first hand on display.
