Caring Close to Home

For over 35 years United Way has occupied a unique position in Marshall County. Their purpose is to coordinate fund raising efforts with community volunteers uniting responsible business, government, civic, social and community leaders in an earnest belief that they are responsible for caring close to home. Brian Dietz, Chairman for the 2000 United Way Campaign, has designated this year's campaign theme as "Caring Close to Home" reflecting how much the United Way member agencies touch the lives of the people in the Marshall County community.

Hundreds of community volunteers have committed untold hours working with local businesses and industries and their employees in raising funds to support local agencies in their missions of providing services to this community. The United Way mission is to enhance the quality of life by accessing the perceptions, needs and assets of its donors and consumers and deploying the various resources to address those needs. Through the allocation of United Way donations, numerous agencies receive needed funding to support youth, health care and family service programs. By joining together, this community of volunteers and agencies continues to make positive and lasting contributions to the Marshall county need, thus ensuring that children and families are healthy, people are nurtured to become self sufficient and neighborhoods are safe and thriving.

"Your investment" in the United Way of Marshall County gives your employees, neighbors, friends and perhaps your family members a chance at a better life.
     As an individual, your support:
  • Helps families in financial or emotional crisis.
  • Empowers young people by giving them a sense of worth and skills to succeed.
  • Gives the elderly the ability to continue their independence.
  • Provides information and support to those with major health concerns.
  • Teaches individuals how to be better spouses and parents.
As an employer, United Way Member Agencies assist your employees by:
  • Working to provide quality child care so parents can be focused on work.
  • Giving a safe supervised environment for children between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Helping a highly productive employee to deal with addictions.
  • Counseling with professional for employees who are struggling with their marriage and /or families.
