Todd Zeltwanger, this year's 2001 Campaign Chairman, has announced that Samuel W. Goebel, owner of RE/MAX Oak Crest Realty has been named Vice-Chairman for the 2001 United Way of Marshall County Campaign. Todd stated that having Sam join the cabinet is a real boost to his campaign team. "Sam brings to the table a wealth of experience in sales and dealing with the public at large. He believes in the United Way and how it serves so many organizations across our county." Mr. Goebel will be the county chairman for the 2002 Campaign.
Sam Goebel, a licensed real estate broker since 1976, has received many awards during his twenty-five years in real estate. A teacher and coach from 1970 to 1976, Mr. Goebel has been a full time realtor since 1976. In 1987 he earned the prestigious CAI certification. He's a member of the Marshall County Board of Realtors, Indiana Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Indiana Auctioneers Association and National Auctioneers Association. He is a past-president of the Marshall County Board of Realtors for two terms. He has served on various realtor's committees. He was named RE/MAX of Indiana Broker/Owner of the Year in 1992 and again awarded that honor in 2000. He has owned the Oak Crest Realty since 1979 and has been named to the RE/MAX Executive Club every year.
In 1998 he was named Realtor of the Year by the North Central Indiana Association of Realtors and was winner of the Indiana Auctioneers Association Bid Call Championship in 1999. He has been District 1 Chairman of the Indiana Auctioneers Association and a State Director of the Indiana Auctioneer Association, 1994 through 1996.
Along with his professional accomplishments, Sam has served as a board member and vice-president for the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce. He has also conducted charitable auctions for various clubs and organizations across northern Indiana. He and his wife Judy have two sons and are members of the First United Methodist Church.
Commenting on the appointment, United Way Board President, Jeff Pezzano welcomed Sam to the Campaign Cabinet and expressed the Board's excitement with his acceptance. "We know it will be a tough campaign this year as we face several challenges here in Marshall County" said Pezzano. "However, with the leadership of Todd and Sam and a strong campaign cabinet we should overcome those challenges and more than meet our goal of $465,000."
The United Way of Marshall County supports 19 United Way Member Agencies and various youth and affiliate programs. Last year's campaign exceeded its goal of $465,000 and was able to allocate over $350,000 to the member agencies and programs for the 2001 calendar year.
Mr. Zeltwanger believes the United Way campaign works when hundreds of local volunteers come together with area businesses and community leaders to raise the funds that are used to support youth, health care and family service programs for Marshall County residents. Todd hopes that everyone will be able to be as generous as they can when the campaign volunteers come calling this Fall.
Along with all of the service recipients of Marshall County, Todd wants to thank everyone for past gifts and looks forward to reaching the 2001 goal. United Way of Marshall County where "Caring IS Close to Home."
