Marty Shumaker, Sales / Community Manager, of Briarwood Estates was recently presented with a Creative Community Building Award by Investment Builders, parent company of Briarwood. Shumaker was honored for her endeavors in creating activities for the residents of Briarwood. Ronald Daymude of Investment Builders, presented the award saying, "Marty has gone up and beyond our expectations to promote a climate of community." Daymude said the forming of a community garden, morning coffee hour, library and video exchange and a neighborhood watch program are examples of the programs started by Shumaker to promote a community spirit unique to Briarwood Estates. Briarwood Estates is a manufactured home community located on Hoham Drive in Plymouth.

Tri-Way Golf Club has received "Beginner Friendly" certification from the National Golf Course Owners Association. Tri-Way Golf Club received this certification specifically for its support of Youth programs such as the Marshall County Jr. Tour, promoting "Take Your Daughter to the Course Week," and hosting the Plymouth Boys' and Girls' Club summer golf program. Beginner Friendly certification is a national recognition of the programs and services provided to encourage people to come and enjoy the course and have a good time golfing with friends and family. Courses are evaluated on a number of criteria, including programs which encourage beginners, children and adults, to participate in the game.

Ancilla College

The inauguration of Dr. Robert M. Abene as the fourth President of Ancilla College will take place on Saturday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. in Ancilla Domini Chapel. An inaugural luncheon will follow the ceremony, and the day's events will end with the dedication of the science and technology wing at the College. Dr. Abene, who took over as president on October 1, 2002, previously served as the President of Marian College in Indianapolis from 1999 to 2001. He has also served as Vice President and Chief Administrator for the Division of Student Development at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and as Dean and Chief Administrator for the Division of Student Development at Barat College, Lake Forest, Ill. Since the College opened to the public in 1966, only three other presidents have served: Sister Joel Lampen, PHJC, Sister Virginia Kampwerth, PHJC, and Dr. William J. Shustowski, Jr. During Dr. Abene's first year, the science and technology wing has been completed and opened for classes; the main entrance of the College has been remodeled as well as several administrative offices. Handicapped accessibility has been added to the
north doors of the science and technology wing. Dr. Abene, his wife, Pat, and son, Andrew, reside in the Plymouth community. Ancilla College is a private, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and located on the grounds of the PHJC Ministry Center at Donaldson. The performance is dedicated to the life of Bill Young and his commitment to the arts of Marshall County. A tent party before the concert will honor Bill Young. Dance under the stars in an area set aside for graceful feet! The Glenn Miller Orchestra consists of five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, three rhythm musicians and two vocalists.
