 Damon's "The Place for Ribs" is coming to Plymouth. After 37 years of serving the restaurant needs of this area, Balloon Wurks Restaurant located in the Holiday Inn is saying "good-bye". Robert Listenberger, owner and operator of the Balloon Wurks will be re-opening the restaurant as a "DAMON'S" franchise. In addition to the new Damon's, Robert runs 12 Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants. His experience with the KFC franchises has convinced him that the corporate support received for marketing, training, quality control and menu development are very valuable tools for a restaurant's success. Shamrock Development out of South Bend began reconstruction July 30th. The estimated time of completion of the new Damon's is October 1, 1997. During the construction the restaurant and lounge will remain open to meet the needs of the guests at the Holiday Inn, as well as the needs of the Plymouth community. Shawn Marshall is the general manager of the new Damon's. Shawn's experience in the restaurant business includes four years with Apple Bees Neighborhood Grill & Bar as an opening manager for franchises in Fort Wayne, Michigan City, Mishawaka, Elkhart and Valparaiso. The new Damon's Restaurant will seat 183 people in the dining room and the clubhouse and sports entertainment area. Damon's, famous for their ribs, is a full service restaurant offering a wide variety of menu items for both lunch and dinner. Damon's Clubhouse is a unique entertainment facility offering live and prerecorded sports entertainment on 16 video screens along with the opportunity for guests to enjoy interactive sports and trivia entertainment through the use of the NTN (National Two-Way Network) entertainment system. they have contracted with ESPN and Fox Sports to bring sports fans NBA and NFL programming, college football and basketball and more. Along with the new construction for the restaurant there will be the remodeling of the banquet facilities. C. J. Hurley will still be managing the banquet and catering needs for the new facility under the new name of Damon's Banquets & Catering.
